Im thinking of fitting an isolator switch to my landy as i think there is a small drain on the battery (or the battery is on its way out) and also because i thought it may slow thieves down.. So i obviously dont want to put the isolator switch in some really obvious place, although i was concerned about running wires all over the shop.. Any ideas?

Also, any obvious cheap landy insurers? Because im using my NCD on my car, i cant use them on the landy and the premium has gone from £240 to £890... :(

get one with a removable key, fitted to the wall of the battery box - and wire a 1A 12v resettable trip in parallel with it

and sort your alternator out

Isnt it slightly pointless putting the isolator switch next to the battery as the thieves could just bypass it? If it were concealed somewhere, it may take a bit more time to bypass? Apologies if im being thick. Also, have you got more info into why the alternator is the battery drain problem? I havent got a lot of experience, but is it to do with worn bushes or the likes?

do what sean said as it is the easiest option, then fit a micro switch to the ignition hidden under the footwell.

fitting a standard LR paddle switch (connected to the fuel solenoid) where the choke usually fits keeps it looking standard

just take the engine out when you leave it!!!!!!

or better still take a leaf from cyclists take the wheels and seats with you.............

or better still buy a gaylander no foker would steal that

Is it possible to fit an isolator switch that allows a small amount of current through to keep the clock and radio memory alive?

You can fit them with a light gauge fused bypass that will allow radio etc to stay coded but blow if you try to start the car, but I suspect that arrangement is not comp. legal if that was your aim.

LMFAO. Forget your isolator switch. What you want one for anyway? If your batteries getting drained then you've got a fault. Take it to an AE. Or: as you say, yer batteries duff. Get it checked out. Buy a new one. FFS don't go to Al Frauds £90:00 for an 075. If you want to keep yer Land Rover safe, then work out a place for it where they wont find it.

I have a cunning plan....
