Where not to waxoyl?

Got myself a load of waxoyl, a Shutz gun & borrowed a compressor,

going to waxoyl under my disco Td5 at the weekend, are there any areas that I should avoid or mask off with newspaper etc ?

I intend to warm the waxoyl first with boiling water, but someone suggested I dilute it with white spirit 75% to 25% - is this a good idea or would it reduce the effectiveness of the waxoyl ?

Haven't used any waxoyle for about 20 years since I did an old ford escort so I'm a bit rusty - no pun intended (honestly) - any advice greatly appreciated

- thanks.

Keep it away from brakes, and try not to coat the exhaust or you will smell burning waxoyle for the next 2 weeks. Don't do the geraboxes or the engine.

You really just want to coat the chassis and surrounding metal work, the drivetrain and moving parts shouldn't be done, although you could paint the propshafts just not as said above the UJ's. The axles should also be done, do the front wheel arches as well.

The biggest job here is the cleaning, knock off bad rust with a hammer, and then sand/grind to clean metal. Jetwash the underside until it is spotless, then let it dry for a day when its hot. There is no point sealing in a nice lump of wet mud.
