I was just looking up oil filters on ebay (as you do!) I noticed a filter I havnt seen on my 2000 Defender TD5. Its a oil rotor filter. I have changed the main oil filter. Is this another one I have missed? If so, where is it please? Be gentle with me, as Im new to the TD5 engine. Thanks for any advice in advance... Ian..

Be careful when you tighten the rotor cover bolts down. They only need to be 6 ft/lbs max or you'll strip the threads. The O ring does the sealing.

Also dont buy cheap rotors as they dont always fit properly. Sometimes the centre bronze bearing is too tight or its too long and binds when you tighten the cover. Its easily sorted but not if you dont realise whats happening. I only use OEM rotors now.

You should hear the rotor spooling down for 15 seconds or so when you switch the engine off. If not the rotor is not spinning so it is not working.
