A search on here indicates my battery drain may be due to RF receiver picking up stray signals and waking up BECM

1996 ES Tdi disco.

Where is the rf receiver, please, anyone? I can't find a wiring diagram

If I disconnect it and drain stops, I know the cause. Instead of buying the £160 new unit, I will then either leave disconnected or install a switch on outside of vehicle (turn switch on when I want to access vehicle and turn off when leaving vehicle overnoght) Is that ok? Will that work? It can't make the disco vunerable to burglars can it?

Currently, I can only charge the battery when it is off the vehicle because charging it insitu will only get up to 12.5V, off and I can charge up to 14.9V, so I have a big current drain going on (does charge when driving ok)

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that.

In that case, would my receiver be the culprit of any battery drain? If I have no BECM, then could stray signals be waking anything up?

Cheers,
Jim

And a another No, nothing to wakeup.
1. Have you got a battery which is 100% and it's being charged at around 14.4 volts by the alternator.
2. Put a multi-meter switched to amps in series with the pos lead at the battery you will have some current drain but only miliamps If it's amps then you will have to start removing fuses one by one till the load is removed you will then have found the item thats giving a problem.

A faulty alternator (diode pack/regulator) can drain a battery.
