Hi, does anyone know what the difference is between a year 2000 model range rover 4.6 hse and vogue 4.6.The reason i ask is that i have a range rover Vogue with the carin sat nav, wood steering wheel, privacy glass, full wood around the instruments as far as i know its higher spec that the standard Vogue.BUT on the log book its states its a HSE AUTO?
What are the differences between them? Has anyone come across this before? I cant see why anyone would buy a hse and bring it up to vogue spec surely this would cost more? were there special editions for 2000? i dont have much paper work to trace vehicle history, do you think Landrover sold out of vogue's at the time and uprated this one and stuck a badge on it?
be interesting to find out what you guys think
cheers

Interesting post. my 98 DSE is shown as a DSE in the V5 as well. however, looking at other DSE's and checking over at http://www.rrr.co.uk/P38/Models.htm mine appears to be a DSE Plus. So im not really sure what mine is, mine ticks all the boxes for a DSE Plus but is shown as a DSE in the V5. It doesnt bother me really but I would like to know eventually, lol

If yours has the colour coding, electric seats etc and the spec book says Trim Type 2 - then it is the same as mine, a DHSE which was a limited edition for that year.

hmmm,

colour coding - yes
elec seats - yes
trim type 2 - pretty sure it says that, will check tomorrow.

its badged as a DSE but what i have noticed about the DSE Plus is that it was never badged as a DSE so maybe it isnt what i originally though and is like yours, a DHSE. it certainly seems to have more 'luxuries' than any other DSE i have ever seen. I never looked at the DHSE originally so dont know how it compares but i thought the DHSE had the leather and wood steering wheel. Mine only has the standard black leather one (which i think i prefer after seeing a Vogue recently which had the leather and wood wheel) and the clarion radio BUt with the HK setup... :/

Ok, i'm rambling now, i think i just have a cross bread of RR, i just know that its alot more comfy and nicer to be in than my old clio!!

I too have the Clarion Diversity radio and the HK system and a black steering wheel with radio controls! So whatever we have, we have the same motor!!

I am sure you will find it is the DHSE special edition run over 98 and 99.

It's not uncommon for that to happen, surprisingly enough.

I've seen dealer demos which are base models, but with a higher spec than an equivalent 'SE' spec'd version!

I'd go with what is on the V5. More likely that someone has over spec'd an HSE than it has been recorded wrongly with the DVLA when it was registered. If you've got the VIN, you can probably take it into a dealership and they should be able to pull the records up on the computer and tell you what it is.

........agree with the last bit Matt. However the DHSE in 98 and 99 was down as a DSE Special Edition Trim Type 2 on the order form and on the V5 - check on the handbook sticker, if it says trim type 2 then it is a DHSE.

Some will have been specced up but things like the coachline and stuff were DHSE specific.

'Standard' vogue has a 100" wheelbase, Hse models 108"

WTF? Never heard of the P38 in two different wheelbase lengths!

I guess you are talking about the Classic - but wasn't it the LSE that was LWB?

Apologies, I was talking about the classic, and yes it was LSE, been a long day for me, I beg your humble forgivness.
