I want to replace wheels and tyres on my 200tdi 90. Thinking about white 8 spokes to get greater track width. Can anyone tell me about pros and cons of 16" v 15" rims? Anything I should particularly look out for in terms of optimum size/width for mostly road work?

16" seems to be more common. Which means tyres are much more common to source around for and they don't need to have such a high profile. 17" will be a bit costly in terms of the tyres. pehaps higher profile on smaller rims might be of more use when off roading.

Since you're usually on tarmac, why not consider alloy rims? Will make a landy look more attractive.

i've had the 8 spoke white rims on my SIII before, on yokohama geolanders AT of 265,70,16.

i'm currently on a d90 using the LR boost alloys using 265,75,16 with bridgestone dueller AT.

Anyone got some standard, LR, Sankey, pressed steel, ordinary, everyday wheels spare, I've got something on my new one that isn't good looking and when I next change tyres I'd like to change to the orig spec, just for looks really, call me ole fashon, but, that's me
Thanks Pat

I may have some in the next week cos i'm thinking of changing mine, 4 decent michelin tyres, spare a bit ropey, Wheels in good nick.

is it possible to send photo, sounds interesting! I don't know about getting them over to France, but?? anything is possible, best wishes and thanks Pat

Hi

Changing wheels & tyres is simple enough as long as the aspect stays the same otherwise it may affect the speedo (and you may gain a few points)

So make sure you stay at the same aspect ie

235/70/16
245/60 (65)16
255/55/16
235 60/17
etc

the Aspect (the depth of tyre from tread to wheel) all good tyre companies will be able to advise.

I have been told that there is a 22 tooth gear that drives the speedo cable on the transfer box that in my case needs to be changed to 20 tooth (or vice versa), as I am going from 205 to 265 tires losing about 10% on the speedo, I have ordered this with the wheel/tires and will be under the landy again!, if i'm wrong please tell me!

here you go:

1: spare tread
2: the main 4 tread (newish)
3: spare wheel
4: pile of main wheels (bet the neighbour loves this!)
5: main wheels (they are all like this, can supply pics of other side, forgot though!)
