Hi Guys hope Someone can help, ive got a 4ltr p38 se auto ive just driven sixty odd miles with no problem (well other than the fact its running on 7 cylinders but got a new coil pack to sort that) but when i got home put her in reverse the off side wheels turned but not the nearside so i put her buck to drive all four wheels drove fine, got in to the drive and tried reverse again but got the same problem tried going between drive and reverse and now got the same problem in drive the brakes seem fine and wheels turn freely in neutral props look ok and no play in them either, it could be the diffs i suppose but for the fault to come on so quickly and both diffs to have the same fault seems unlikely.:scratching_chin:

Oh and I should add the ABS Light is now on constantly

any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

Firstly have some manners and pop along to the introduce yourself section and post a little something in there about yourself and your motor, it only takes a moment and will save you the inevitable slagging off from some of the more established members and myself, im currently not feeling well so cant really muster the vitriol needed for such 1PWs as yourself.

Then take the banter in the fashion it is intended and sift through the posts and you will find a mine of useful info but if you choose to spit your dummy at such a simple request you deserve everything you will get.

Woo hoo discoPol got a bad dose of Christmas niceness going on :D

Oh god, what are you doing here? This is a 110W free zone. Be gone peasant. :p

I'm spreading Christmas love throughout the forum , even into those parts that are a little *cough* "dry/ less than exciting than others :D

I will have you know we was only marvelling at the finer qualities of a 1931 over a 1928. But all of this was blow into the breeze when the 1902 single malt was sampled. Quite frankly there is no better hunting companion.

Fair Play Mate and im making my way to the intro section right this very minute, young pup got to prove himself worthy of the big dogs advice, i get it so, sorry for my rudeness i consider myself well and truly smacked down!! still hope you can help though pleeeeease

If the ABS light is constantly on, sounds like either the ECU has packed up and is applying TC when reversing or the modulator has failed. diagnostics needed.

It is not possible for the diffs to drive just one side and the other to be locked unless TC is applying the brake to the locked wheel.

ABS ECU controls the Traction Control....

I with the others on Diagnostics needed and sounds TC/ABS to me too....

But one other thing to check...how old are your brake pads and discs...??

My previous '88 Classic once drove fine, then went to reverse and locked up...forward fine...then reverse still locked up....gave it a tickle on the throttle and it spat the rear pads out of the calipers...they were so wron they had slipped out of place and broken the retaining clips and in reverse wedged themeselves against the disc...forward moved them out of the way again, but when in reverse would wedge themselves again....

Longshot but yer never know!!

You'll need someone with a diagnostic tool to hook upto your laptop and check if the TC/ABS is going spastic.

Ok No Prizes if you Guess What i'm up to tomorrow? i will check the discs and pads tomorrow and let you know, And a big thanx to all who have replied your help and advice makes you all a credit to Landyzone:clap2: Thanx again for helping a first timer!
