wheel spacers

Hello,

I am running 245/70 semi road Cooper tyres with standard suspension and Range Rover alloy rims on my 1995 300 tdi.

I just checked prices and about $500 for a set of alloy. The risk is studs breaking or bearing premature failure or axle failure ?

Anyone tried using plain old spacer plates at about 10mm thick? I am wondering if there would be enough nut thread engaged?
Presumably they would help a bit with extra stability?

i think your missing how spacers work..the whole piece comes with new threads on,if you buy proper ones ofcourse..im sure running those tiny tyres you wont get premature wheel bearing failure

According to many people, the further you move the wheels outwards, the more force on the bearings and axle shaft (I was probably wrong about the studs).

Does anyone know if there is a safe amount of thread left on the studs by using the 10mm spacers ?

I'm not sure havnt seen them used but from looking at the wheel as it, losing a further 10mm I wouldn't fancy it. But then again they wouldn't make or sell them if they didn't go on.

I use 30mm spacers on my modular wheels with 33 x 12.5 x 16 tyres, I use Timken bearings so I've not worn any out despite greenlaning twice a month and wading etc.

One big big tip is triple check and then double check the tightness of the nuts after you put the spacers on as with aluminium spacers they tend to come loose.

I think the results look quite good.
