Maybe I'm dafter these days than I thought.... I have recently sold my 200TDI and aquired a 300 Anniversary. Now, it had no wheel brace when I bought it so I have my trusty non genuine one. However, this fits the nuts but are the chrome covers on them supposed to come off before undoing the nuts, if so then its a different size to the wheel brace which I assume is standard. Can anyone give us a clue?

I'll tell you what's up - for a tenner........

Nah, I'll let you off, they rust under the shiny caps and bulge so 27mm won't get them.

28mm will sometimes but careful not to round them off.

Thin's right, that's the most likely cause. Another is if they've been overzealously air gunned as it deforms the caps on the corners making them bulge, in which case you could be luckly and be able to hammer the faces flat again.

I helped a guy at the services once who had a flat on a discovery. They asked me if i ha a jack.....went to help and the recovery man asked if i had the chrome cover remover for the knuts! Amusing but an easy mistake as so many of them were a loose fit......i always carry the two sizes.

some cars do have removeable chrome covers. Others don't.;)

MGF's are the worst. They have non removeable covers but the number of em that I go out to that the covers slip on the nut so you then have to spend ages getting them off.:mad::mad:
