Hi. Can anyone offer some advice. I previously asked about larger tyres on my 22 inch alloys (30 profile replaced with 45 profile) which is a masive improvment but with a very street bias tread. However I recently have been given a set of 18 inch wheels to fit but now have to look at a set of tyres to suit. They are going to be on the car for the winter and will be used for moderate off road use each week (during the hunting/shooting season). I would like to fit something substantial and just wondering what the max diameter people have fitted without suffering from clearance problems. Mt 22s now stand 32 inches high with no problem.

Any advice based upon experience would be most welcome.

PS I realise someone will tell me to simply be sensible and fit OE wheels and tyres but that lacks imagination.

Finally the tyres must still be road friendly so nothing too off road extreme please.

many thanks

regards

You don't say what vehicle the wheels are on?

Assuming it is a P38, be sensible and fit OE wheels and tyres. Anything above a 255/55R18 means the tyres foul the wheel arches when the car is on the bump stops, and that is unpleasant when you are miles from home with an EAS fault.
