The bearings have died catastrophically on the rear nearside wheel of my defender 110.
Unfortunately the inner race looks like it's welded itself on to the stub axle and nothing is moving it. I've tried hub pullers, heat, WD40 and brute force to no effect.
Can anybody recommend somebody mobile with an oxy cutter in the Northwich/Cheshire area? Needed fairly urgently as it's my daily driver.
Thanks
Dale

Thanks for the responses. I was starting to get a bit despondent earlier.
The cage was already destroyed and the rollers had turned into one big molten mass so I couldn't get them out. I ended up using a good quality 4mm drill bit to drill a hole as close to the inner edge of the race as I could without marking the stub axle then I inserted a punch and hammered the crap out of it. I then drilled another hole 90 degrees from the first and did the same and the race finally cracked which allowed me to use my hub puller.
Unfortunately I received the wrong stub axles from paddock and the existing ones are pretty rough so I don't get to do the rebuild until the right ones arrive tomorrow then I'm going to do the other side as preventative maintenance...

Don't forget to check the fronts!

A bead of weld on the "inner race from hell" will soften it, and heat it up, and often allow its removal with out further ado.....

Just buy another stub, they are what £25? If it has welded itself onto the stub, the stub may well be damaged underneath! When a similar thing happened to my 90 last year, the stub was not salvageable once I got the bearing off it was wrecked.
