Wheel arch cutting

At present, I haven't. The gap between the inner and outer skins is bridged by the inner skin that is fanned to fill the curve. Tomorrows job is to coat it with galvanising spray, then wax oil then gap filler. The outer rubber seal will be repositioned ontop of the arch. There is an inner seal that doesn't get disturbed.

No seriously mate you've done a great job there.

I cut straight through both skins and then filled the gap with expanding foam, and cut it to shape.

Seems to have done a nice enough job. A year later were my rear doors 2" deep with mud inside? Yes. Have I cleaned it out? Yes. Is it reet? Yes!!

Fanned skin and flexible filler would make a superb, watertight, neat and tidy job. Good thinking ste :)
 
Oh and chaps, remember, like ste has done, to cut plenty out of the inner arch thing. I have cut mine back right up to the bottom of the pillar, and then profiled it in towards the vertical section of its curve.

I have 10" wheels and my tires JUST fit inside the outer arch on full bump but they were ripping/folding the inner arch portion that I had cut to the same level. I later cut that all away and it's sorted.

How's your fitting going? I used the rubber trims that are meant to go round the arches to finish off the edges of the inner arch/wheelarch area around the rear doors.

I did wonder what was used around there, to prevent rear seat passengers taking their skin off, getting in and out!!

I'm starting mine in the morning.
