Just bought some PIRELLI SCORPION alloys tyres.
I have a D'reg Defender 90 currently with steel wheels.
Problem is that i have been told i need to buy adapters, which ones do i buy? wheres the cheapest place?thanks.
What make, model and year of vehicle do the wheels fit? What size are the wheels? if non-genuine, what is the offset of the wheels? What size are the tyres? Has the rear axle on your 90 been converted to discs or is it still drum? When you say 'adapters' do you mean wheel spacers or do you mean adapters to change the stud pattern?
Any ideas?
Good point - well bought out.Get some that fit.
yeh ya wasted yr money:doh:Landy- defender 90, 1986 2.5 petrol with drum brakes. has got steel wheels on at present. The alloys i would like to put on the landy are PIRELLI SCORPION with size 255/65 R16. i believe they are off a recent discovery. They are designed for land rover though as they do have 'Land Rover' on them.
The stud pattern is different- the steel wheel have 5 outer studs and then 5 more tightly studs and a rubber knob in the very middle. whereas the alloys have 5 studs hole and one hole in the middle.
Any ideas?
If you say your new alloys are off a late disco, then you will need wheel adaptors to take your pcd on your landy from 5x165 to 5x120, Now to buy these new are not cheap, your looking anywhere from £250 up to about £400 depending on where you get them from. You will also probably need to get some spigots and these are about £15. Now this is where things get a little bit more difficult, if your landy being a D reg has its original front axle you will need to get a later front axle from a 200 tdi onwards to be able to fit the wheel adaptors. they will however go straight over your rear drums. I say this from experience as I thought I got a good bargin on a set of 20" RRS alloys. Then add on £250 on a set of wheel adaptors, £120 on a new axle and £120 on extra wide wheel arches as the wheel adaptors made the wheels stick out past the original arches and £15 on spiggots as the wheel adaptors are made for p38 alloys. Turned out not such a bargin. So it could become an expensive little project and a lot of hassle.
