It's the RH headlamp lower clip pull rod. It's broken off at the bottom, probably because someone didn't know how to remove the bulb access cover, and did it without removing the headlamp assembly, breaking the rod in the process.

Thanks again @Nodge68.
F-the last guy, right?! ;)
I'll have a look tomorrow, maybe they replaced the assembly, but I doubt it!
Guess I'll be having fun next time a bulb needs replacing!! :D

The rod is broken on my 2.2SE LH headlamp, although the break is in the middle. Thankfully the LH side lower clip can be reached as there's plenty of space to get a hand down the back. The RH side is much more cramped, so getting to the lower clip is going to be more challenging, unfortunately.

Had a gander this morning and sure enough the LH is there, but RH is missing.
Luckily, my dainty hands can reach the clip behind the (air conditioning?) pipe.

For future folk... Part number is LR001547, and at time of writing they're about £7 each with postage.

Always amazes me how some of these spares are sensible prices. Last parts I got where the bolt/insert/thingie that screws into the roof for mounting the roof rails and they were less than £3 each
