whats this off

as some know i have had an alternator problem since crimbo , well i finally got my butt off the chair to replace this morning with one id picked up

problem is there different so which alternator is this one on my landi , its 200 tdi i thought it was off a disco but thats where my new one has come from which dosent fit

by does not fit you mean it won't bolt on or the wiring is different,looks same as my one on my v8

I know there were two types fitted to 300 series, unless one of the vehicles had Air con it does seem odd. If the bearings are all good you could change regulator pack over-depending what's blown on yours

your 1st pic is the same as the alt i got on my 200 tdi defender..

the first pic is off a old style 2.5 the second is off a 200 tdi ...i only know this as i just converted to a 200 ...i had to cut the plug off fit spades and conect ...the little wire gets discarded

yer id agree, the 1st looks like the one that came off my TD whereas the 2nd looks like the one on the disco 200tdi i retro fitted at christmas.
