Just got back from a 15 mile trip and theres green liquid (antifreeze maybe?) leaking out from the RR, if not antifreeze what is this? Is it safe to drive... New ownership is rather expensive so far with new fuel pump only 2 weeks ago...

Any course action i should take? Call AA? or garage? Is it good to drive 15 miles to local garage do you think?

- video of liquid leaking

- another video of liquid leaking

Any help much appreciated,
Will

Looks like the hoses or manifold at the back of the block have gone....common unfortunatly.

Manifold cracks or the hoses burst....very common on the M62 powered BMWs the L322 is derived from....

Trouble is, access is a right pain.

Give it a taste, if is is sticky sweet and bitter it is coolant....if so, dont drive it, the chance of head damage is great on an overheated M62

Putting more in will only leak out if the hose has burst or the manifold is cracked....best to find the cause of the leak before you do anything else....

It's off back to the garage via AA taxi. Is this how life with a RR supposed to be? Even my Alfa has less breakdowns

Still loving my RR and if this is the cost of ownership then, So be it...

Fingers crossed it's not too expensive this time.

If you're able to DIY it ain't so bad a job, just access is a pain....

Have you got the RAVE workshop manuals??
Hi Saint,
DIY isn't really for me, i love cars but not so up for getting my hands dirty. MoonWhizz garage have it and its the hose that was broken. Having them fix all the hoses as its with them as a pre-emptive strike against future hose issues.

While they're down the back of the engine...get them to look at the PCV valve and associated Oil Vapour Hoses...the hoses go soft and collapes and the PCV diaphram splits potentially pressurising the crankcase with catastrophic results!

Oil in the plug wells is a sign of rocker seals going and PCV valve deterioration.
