Is it just me that finds the MOT checking facility via VOSA a bit of a waste of time. If you are trying to find out the history MOT ( work, advisories and failures) you need the v5c number from the reg document or last mot certificate number. Why can't you check history without asking the owner? I know you would say that if a person has a problem giving you the number then what else are they trying to avoid?
I would like to check without alerting the owner to see any problems or issues before inspecting.
Maybe just me and the forum did say general chat.

I agree with you, I wanted to check mot history on a car my friend was going to buy.
Would be very useful and I cant see a problem in giving info out, I wouldn't mind at all:)

Just think about how ridiculous that sounds. You are expecting a government body to provide a service which is of value to prospective car purchasers by providing them with information to enable them to make an informed decision ! :D
