hi whats the best and easiest to use fault reader reset tool out there?
looked at RsW SOLUTIONS ALL COMS.

is this the best? price looks ok

I have been given the go-ahead from the Misses that I can get a diagnostic reader/clearer of some description, although funds are limited....

I am looking between the Faultmate FCR and the Bearmach Hawkeye (Although the Hawkeye is getting onto the very end of the budget + a bit more)

I am looking for something that will clear the HEVAC codes as I have heard the FM/FCR doesn't do this....

There was a thread started a while back, but the conclusion was never reached which was beter the FM/FCR or Hawkeye.....or whether the FM/FCR will clear HEVAC codes....

Ant i have FCR it does not clear Hevac faults. So i too am looking to get something that will. I simple do not believe there are 14 faults on my Hevac. I think work has been done on it, but faults not cleared. I need to clear these and see what genuine ones remain. But the FCR won't do that for me. Have looked at the Hawkeye but at £300.00 + for the basic kit, that it's has limitations. Better system is the Faultmate MSV nano but at £490.00 + postage but that is a lot of money. Think both of these are locked to one vehicle, certainly the MSV is.
 
Tony, that was my thoughts too....

The Bearmach is a tad expensive for my liking considering, whereas the FM/FCR is a little more palatable price wise....

The MSV2 and Nano, are superb bits of kit without doubt, but well out of my league in the price stakes again....

I wonder why the FM/FCR doesn't clear the HEVAC codes?? could have sworn I have seen somewhere it was meant to....

The very last thing I want to do is flash the cash only not to get the right product, cos 'er-indoors will give me that look that only women can give..!!! and I will feel like a scaulded schoolboy....

Think it should do, as far as i can see mine is the latest software version. But as lots of others say the same, there must be a problem with it somewhere. Al it's other functions work. Seeing that it is sold as a fault code reader and clearer, maybe there is a comback available to all those who have bought it as such, but find it just does not do as advetised. He used to be on here all the time, so maybe Colin (BBS GUY) from BBS should come on here and tell us why it doesn't work as described.

My BBS FCR which is at the latest version firmware will not clear HEVAC codes either! It was sold as being able to clear these codes so at over £200 it is not that great. Having used both the FCR and the Hawkeye I would get the Hawkeye which does clear codes easily.

That is why i said Colin should get on here and explain why. He was never off when he was trying to sell them.

Yes I had read the FCR blurt on the BBS website.It did seem to me from this thread and in deed your own posts here that there was uncertainty about whether it should or not from the FCR users.
I believe that BBS guy(Colin) no longer frequents this forum due to some conflicts.
 
I have got All coms and I also have Faultmate extreme so I can compare the two.
If you are considering the Faultmate I would say go for the extreme it is only about £50 more than the nano and gives you stand alone capability. It does everything you want but is locked to one VIN so you can't easily change ECU's.
All coms is pretty well developed for the L322 but is still work in progress for the p38 and the Disco. It is however not locked to one VIN.
So far for the p38 it has fault reading for the ABS, HEVAC and EAS and only EAS settings can be changed.
The All coms guy is a one man band. He is holding down a full time job as well and writes the software when he has time. He has also taken time off recently to pro create. It is one to watch for the future with p38 software apparently just round the corner.
 
I would say for how many times you are likely to need diagnostic kit, you are better off striking up a decent relationship with an independant who is well recommended.
I am in touch with quite a few places around who have Testbook,IDS/SDD/Autologic/UCM etc.Their level of knowledge is very high,and is a very pleasant suprise from what maybe the general public would expect.
Remember too that most if not all LR indies started as enthusiasts like everyone else on these forums,and getting it right is a personal challenge to them.
 
BBS guy gave up with bs that was always dished out.The thing that really ****es me off was that the stirers didn't even want or need the kit....

My fcr is latest software and doesn't work with hevac still 13 codes showing but no book symbol...

I think most of the **** he got was for blatant advertising on the forum. Some of it he got from me, and i do have one of his units. All i want to know now is why the thing i bought does not do what it's supposed to do.
 
As attached.....and if it doesn't do what that statement says - what would Trade Descriptions think of that statement????????
