Havent really wound mine up yet but she got to 60 on the mway. Not sure it'd have any more in it though. Sound about right? Might be an idea to get a new air filter for her.

Would a intercooler be worth it? The engine must take silly temps without one...

Well it'd probably wind up to 70 but not what i'd call easy. I'm new to lr's though and used to fast cars...lol

pointless putting an intercooler on it, unless you want to mess about with the fueling and replace your engine sooner than your next meal

Thought as much. Take it any extra performance will kill it? Although lower temps should be better for it.

Engine sounds mint. Going to give it an oil change this wkend so i'll get a airfilter too. Anything else to check/replace?

I know its probably one of the most asked questions but how hard is it to 200tdi? Same mounts i take it? Then the intercooler, rad and exhaust? Any probs with wiring?

My 2.5 N/A (your engine without turbo) gets to 70 on the motorway no trouble, and I can get to a top speed of about 75 (78 down hills) to over take. It's bloody loud though, and I feel happier sat at 60 or 65.

Tbh i really havent pushed it. Only had it a day or so and havent been motorway driving! haha!

I'll give her a service anyway. :)

And thanks Sean. I did have a search but it was pretty inconclusive. I'll admit i was being lazy too! lol! Thanks very muchly for the link. :)

My landy had been sat for 3 years doing nothing when I bought it and it didn't run spot on, but I've given it a good bit of treatment and it runs a treat. Make sure that you give the engine a full oil change, change all the filters, and maybe even ditch the standard land rover filter box and housing and just put a mushroom filter onto the pipe. (It'll be a lot louder but it'll run a bit better). Running a bit of redex through the system for a couple of months should do a world of good too.

Your 19J will be good for 70 on the flat but those tyres you've got on it will shake your teeth out above 55. BFG AT's won't do much more than that really either. The engine is happiest between 55 and 60 - actually it's happiest at 5 over gnarly ground but we're talking on-road pervormance here!

Unless you've got a FSH with it get the cam belt changed asap else if it goes you're in write-off territory with that. The 19j is an ok engine (don't be put off by what you read, no doubt the 200 is better but with care and regular servicing (at least every 6K miles) it will see twice the mileage you've got on it easily.) Also get used to not burning anythin off at the lights and don't over-rev when cold or when about to switch it off else the turbo will go pop. Don't mod it as it's already at capacity (they had to upgrade it to fit a turbo as when they first did it they all went kaput) - the turbo was a compromise because people were complining about lack of power and the 200 was in development but not ready so they just bolted a light turbocharger on the NA unit.

The important (and expensive) bits are really the chassis and bulkhead (you say are OK on yours, so that was a good move) and the gearboxes (although you can get a new 230 (transfer box for yours) for 500 notes (bout the same for a good recon) and a LT77 is a bit less. The whining you hear is the transfer box, but it c`an whine for ages before anything actually goes so don't be too alarmed! A 19J on a good chassis and bulkhead is loads better than a 200, 300 or i've seen some pretty ropey looking TD5s driving around on a colander, so don't get green mist over the better engine!

Hope this helps, welcome to years of happy and frustrated motoring!

Think i've found about 6 (and helped him on quite a few!) - there sure do seem to be pleaty of bad points - lucky as he says the chassie and bulkhead are really good, although not entirely convinced of his assessor skills now!

It's like he was trying to coax us to convince him it was a goodun - but he would have put it on fleabag about 3 days ago so in telling us all this guff about how keen he was it was actually up for sale at the time!

maybe it was this post that put him off.He though he had a pocket rocket that'd do 0-60 in 4 sec.Or maybe he thought it was a 200+mph monster!Shame it wasnt to be.
