Hi just got me a disco after the mrs took it upon herself to rob my hippo but i have an annoying squeek when you put youre foot on the clutch pedal you get a squeek like the fanbelt is squeelin but if you take youre foot off it stops??? what would cause this??? also it has the usual scabs what is the best thing to treat it with with it being made of alloy?? thanks ctj

Squeal sounds like it may have a warped clutch plate or dodgy thrust bearing.

There isn't much on a landy body that's made of Alloy? The doors are I believe Back door certainly is. but roof and floor and A, B & C posts are all made of steel as are wheel arches and inner wings.

doors etc are indeed alloy, and agree wiv clutch plate possibly being problem, had that on one ov mine. The rest of the body is actually made of rust, held togevver with paint.
 
Hi thanks shoulda said it is the doors and wheel arches that i have the prob with was hopeing to sort it and have it repainted to tidy the car up a bit but if there is nothing to stop it comeing back thru is it worth it!!! as for the clutch cover is it likely to get worse or is it a case of living with it it doesnt do it all the time and only happens when you have your foot on the clutch thanks

its worth sorting the rot if it aint too bad, then using an underseal like Waxoyl to protect it. The clutch plate, if warped, will need replacing, as it will only get worse.
 
What would be the best thing to treat the alloy with to hopefully stop the rot it isnt to bad ie not holed!! and i have been told it is the thrust bearing makeing the noise is it likely to just fail or will it go over time???? thanks

GET A NEW CLUTCH that will proberly get rid of this noise if not then it could be clutch master or slave dont think it would be anything else:)
