crows an wra cornwall
This post will make some one come up with some bright answer I am sure.
I have been told that there should be a rubber seal that stops water from running down past the bonnet and into the engine bay, I can not find one in the parts book I can see the gully that catches the water in front of the windscreen and just tips it into the engine bay so am I missing something or does it just do that.

Assuming you mean the rubber seals that run down either side of the bonnet over the tops of the wings then MRC5640 - it's in section 2I 04 of the parts catalogue as it's sound deadening (rather than to prevent water getting in) - not many fitted with it (not sure why). I have looked for this myself, but appears to be an obsolete part? I have managed to save the ones off my bonnet which hopefully I can re-use, but I was going to try and find a modern similar seal to match that would do the same as the rubbers on mine are a little bit worn on the bonnet hinge end.

If you mean at the rear of the bonnet where it meets the bulkhead then there is no seal that I am aware of (just a couple of rubber stops to stop it vibrating) - don't see why you couldn't add one if you wanted, but cannot see any real reason why there would be a problem with small amonts of water running down this gap, given the amont which will likely come up from the underside anyway when driving

Hope this helps?

They do a bonnet rest piece that fits on top radiator cowling. Is that what you mean? Think I have see some with strips of rubber down each side also but just thought that was for vibration type purpose

There is no seal! Kind regards. Chris

Fitted some to mine purchased off ebay to try and contain the noise . Fitted to bonnet sides and the edge above gutter

But mine's got a hole in the dish where the wheel fits, which allows water to run through. It means, I suppose, that if you open the bonnet after it's been raining, most of the water has already run through, rather than being thrown into the channel on the bulkhead.

just go to the scrappers and get the boot lid seal off an old mondeo or escrot or something itll cost pennies and use an old door seal for the sides of the bonnet and self adhiesive draft proof strip from wilkos on the top of the grille pannel
