Whats it doing now?!!

My beloved 92 3.9 (lpg) se has behaved remarkably over the last ten years that I've had her with no electrical glitches to speak of .......until now! My better half tried adjusting the drivers seat position the other day using the electrical seat switch and all that moved were the door mirrors! Using the door mirror switch unfortunately does not adjust the seats and works in the correct sense. Not really a problem as its really only me that drives her but its one of those niggly things I'd love to fix and was hoping that someone might have experienced this before and has a really simple solution! Over to you!

Remove the switches from the top cover of the switch box, be carefull as they are fragile. Prise up the cover with a small screwdriver, be carefull as theses are also fragile.

Spray some contact cleaner or WD40 into the mechanism and work the switches backwards and forwards, this will clean the contacts.

If you dont use the switches very often they will stick, there are lots of springs and ball bearings inside.

Removed the unit, lubricated (WD40) the innards + the 3 wiring conections on the reverse, jiggled switches and ......nadda!!! I'll give it a couple of days to ponder its future and possibly try and source a replacement control unit. As I said its not a bid deal. I guess the the passenger unit (working perfectly) won't work on the drivers side?

Why not swap the wires from drivers seat onto passenger seat switch - that would tell you if drivers switch is gubbed and would rule out the seat motors
Switch packs come up on ebay all the time if it turns out to be the switch

Thanks V8, as I mentioned I'll give it a couple of days and possibly try swapping the units. I don't think switching the wiring over to the other side is feasible due to cable length and the issue of removing cubby box and carpeting. Cheers for the idea though!
