I just popped out, stopped at a shop and there is smoke coming out of my nsr wheel, didn't use the breaks much but somethin must be getting hot
Then I noticed that the bottom of the wheel sticks out more than the others and the top goes in, like the camber on a racing car, but I didn't think this could do that as the wheels are on a solid axel,
so i tried to wobble it and bearings have no play
it's a 1997 p38, is there an explaination to this camber? the other rear wheel tows out a little but not much, and the front ones one toes in and one toes out!! I didn't think this was possible on these solid axles?
and what's this smoke!!
confused dot com here!!!

Sounds like a trip to your friendly alignment centre is in order....

The smoke could be a binding brake - it has been known that the caliper pistons stick.

Not teaching you to suck eggs, but you did jack up the wheel to test for bearing wooble??

You cannot adjust the camber angle at all. Most likely a hub bearing collapsed. You need to check this straight away.

I didn't mate but mot man did a few days ago!
but if it's joined to a solid axle how can it be like / when the other wheel is like l lol can the hub assembly slip or is it all supposed to be square???
thank you

The only way you can have that is either the bearing has collapsed. The hub has come loose from the axle or your wheel is about to fall off. Get it checked. Wobbling the wheel with weight on it is no test.

Right thanks, I have just put it into my shed and hopefully i'll get a chance to look tomorrow, Now when in the garage the wheel seems to be sticking out at the top instead of bottom!! somethin aint right!

bent wheel?
bent halfshaft?
as said bearing broke up?

or,

filming for candid camera....

can't be bent wheel as it would have wobbled like hell! bent halfshaft?? I don't know if that would make the wheel camber as the hub is on the end of it but hub is bolted onto the axel I presume? also surely anything bent would make the car vibrate or wobble?
bloody cars! only just got the mot too!

jacked up today, wheel wobbled! like mad! 3 days after mot! took wheel off and noticed the centre nut in the middle was loose, now does this nut just hold the halfshaft in place or does it hold the face of the hub on? is this what's causing the wobble? I tried to take the disc off but the little screw has been rounded off, any tips? caliper came off quite easy but now i'm stuck as the disc is jammed on,,,, or do i just need to put that big nut back on?? is it supposed to have a wedge in the end of the shaft to hold the nut as there was nothing in the shaft slot?
I can't seem to find any diagram of rear hub in rave,,, can anyone tell me which section it;s in as it doesn't seem to be in the axle pages ?
thanks guys

Rear Hub assembly as attached....

Note the Brake Disc fits onto the hub and the studs.

As for getting the disc retaining screw out, probably best to drill the head off then using grips remove the remainder once the disc is off.

maybe look in brakes section? a nice sharp chisel works on the screws and sounds like you're missing a locking tab and nut

You can try torquing the nut up and checking for play and roughness in bearing. Nut is a stake nut and should be staked into slot on halfshaft. Nut nips wheel carrier to halfshaft. If it has been moving that much i cannot see that bearings will not be damaged. But you never know.

It is from the Land Rover Parts Catalogue called MicroCAT....

If the nut in the middle is working loose, then as 3.5efi says, it is missing the locking tab that is folded over onto on of the nut flats to lock it in place....
