What's everyone's compressor set up?

I've just fixed my 240v compressor and was looking at fitting it to my landy.

I want to be able to inflate my tyres, run air tools, and be able to power lockers once I can afford them. All on one system.
Has anyone already done this?
My compressor is 50 litre so she's a big'un.
I was thinking maybe fit it behind the bulkhead, side ways in the load bay. Or up on one of the rear arches.
I want to be able to seat couple of people in the back, and still have space to chuck sh*t in.

Or do I not bother with air tools, and get a smaller compressor just for inflating tyres and doing lockers?

Suggestions/ideas/banter please! :)
 
seems a bit of a daft idea tbh... how often are you likely to need it? and all the rest of the time you just lugging it around along with a 5kw inverter to drive the thing of which the cables required will be massive = expensive

seems a bit more sensible to buy a half decent normal 12v compressor for lockers / tyres.

anyway 50Ltrs is just the capacity of the reservoir - its cfm that matters

anyway what repairs are you planning to do at the side of the road that requires air tools? A full rebuild?!
 
Here is my air system :p has built in compressor on engine, great for the air assist clutch or anything else I might want.

OP, if you search for onboard air, you should find details of a few setups. Most I've read about consist of using an air conditioning compressor from another car with a dog clutch running of an aux belt. There are a few places under the the bodywork where you could hide a small tank. At the back behind the wheels. In a 110, in the deadspce along on the seatbox, behind the bulkhead.

Yep :) Should be pretty handy.

Probably not very often used for air tools - was just going to be a luxury, but for tyres, at least 3-4 times a month.

I think you're probably right! Any suggestions on a good one? I've had no experience with smaller 12v ones.

I know it's the cfm that counts when using air tools! :) And I don't plan on doing a full rebuild at the side of the road, I can't think of why I'd need any air tools either now, seemed like a good idea at the time! Haha

No seriously tho, there's some great portable compressors on the market. Have a look around you can pick them up for around £100.


:D :D thanks! Money's thin atm because of damn Christmas. HUMBUG! But hey ho, landy will be treated to lots of toys next year. Had this old compressor lying round and was trying to utilise stuff I've already got. :L

Is that a cummins? :O
Are the compressors standard on those engines, or something that you've made up yourself? I guess it's for running lorry brakes if it is a standard attachment?
Looks like a tight fit in there! You got a thread on the build? Would like to do something like that when I can afford a second landy. :D
