Ive got abit of rear diff whine on overun and also at least one rear wheel bearing gone/going
Is it better to replace for new
Or get a complete confirmed good rear axle from a 4.6 for £100 plus fitting?

How long is a confirmed good one good for? 100 miles?

Its a fair point but would think it only needs to see another year or 2 at the most before I upgrade to l322 and when I weigh up to cost of a set of bearings and a new diff!
what's the likely problem with the diff?
It runs fine but has a whine on over run, the faster im going the louder it is! Changed oil a few months back and it looked like it had been in for years!

No much experience with changing axle but if it's easy/not dear can't see nothing wrong in doing that, hope you get some kind of guarantee its good.
Personally I would fit new parts but also intend to keep car and like things to be tip-top.

And if considering changing car, do it spring summer where prices on 4x4 tends to be lower.

Pinion bearings.

I always thought diffs were a real PITA to rebuild. I had a new OSR hub & new rear diff replaced in the summer, i let my mech do that one!
