No but with 6 digits you could still write '77345' (shell) on it.
Did yer haf to shuvvel coal in it as well?

a lot of the old whitworth sizes were known by other names.. fer instance the 1/2"" whitworth or 1/2whit as its more commonly called was known as 'the cornish spanner'

Quarter Whitworth spanners also fit 5/16th BSF nuts and bolts.
The spanner size is the diameter of the bolt for Gawd's sake.
Anyway, ¼ Whit spanner jaws are 0.525 inches / 13.34 mm AF.
They are still widely used in some applications, battery posts being one of them in some cars.

Half inch Whit is a hefty spanner.
Give the other guy a sore one that would.
