Hi, wondered if anyone knew the answer to the above?

I've just bought a 1998 300tdi 110 utility but I'm not convinced it was originally a utility.
It has a double cab and the utility rear but the workmanship in the rear seems to be "home made" rather than original. No major dramas with it but just wondered if it was original and repaired or if it's been altered to suit the last owner?
Can't do pics yet as the laptop is goosed but will add some soon!
Cheers!

There are a few more riveted pieces of metal in places, the trim above the rear doors doesn't seem to be finished off well, ie the roof trim and upper grab handles just stop after the cab doors and don't have anything to "finish" them off at the end.
I know this is useless without pics, I'm just wondering if it's been converted from its original form?

The logbook shoes it as grey so the respray has been recorded correctly. Checked the vin decoder thingy but don't believe it's specific as to what variant of 110 the car is.
Once I get the v5 back I'll write to the old keeper and ask him...
Thanks for the replies!

Interesting! Thanks, I'll see what he says if he replies. IM not overly concerned but would like to know about the cars history a little more!!

2007 I think. Mines a tdi "utility" been done with 88 sides. The trim just sounds like they haven't refit the window trim as there's no windows anymore,so it kind of just stops after doors

I'll try get some pics on tomorrow!

G-mark does yours have bars on the wheel arches? Inside the van back on top of the wheel arches I have black bars that look almost like a small roll cage support or something similar, wondered if they were standard or possibly if they're fitted to a pick up and it's been converted from that to a utility (if that's possible??)

Easier to diagnose with pics I know! I'll get some on tomorrow!

probably a staion wagon converted to van. or a special vehicle. but that would have a special vehicle build plate under bonnet somewhere.
doing the same with mine but leaving seatbelts in for occasional use

Here are a couple of pics

Looks perfectly fine to me. That metal bar thing is for seat belts for bench or dicky seats. Black panel trim looks homemade but apart from that it's completely standard
