So I've posted here before about if I should touch the engine on my cheap and cheerful 2000 4.6 Autobiography that's currently on 192k miles.
I've since planned a 1300 mile trip, including a lot of greenlaning, to Islay to sample some whiskey and just have a bit of an adventure with some mates. The trip is mid Feb.
The engine sounds ok, a bit tappetty, but ok. I can tell it's down on power but that's to be expected at that sort of mileage.
Now, my worry is that the engine could let go during this road trip as I think I'm asking a lot of it. Knowing this, would any of you bother with pre-emptively doing head gaskets and replacing the cam with this cam kit on eBay;

Or would you just say go for it as is?
Thanks!
