I had a set a bf's on the disco....dun 200 miles on them....two cuts up the sidewalls....not sellable....not such a good deal. All depends what your using em for:(

My muds are Kumho's, based on the LRO test where BFG's and Kumho's were joint winners, and LRO saying the only difference was that the Kumho's were better looking, which they are :D

But that test was with the BFG MT KM, and BFG now have the new KM2. I guess time will tell if they are better or not, and personally I'd rather pay a few extra quid for the best stuff, cause not getting stuck when everyone else is, is foooking priceless :D
 
Mine are used for towing a caravan mostly, then green-laning, then Playdays. Possibly more off-road than on-road, everything from Stanage Edge to farmers tracks, RTV trials with Lincs Landrover club and others very occasionally and also been used at Kirton, Tong, Frickley and sundry other playdays .... Had a couple of punctures over three sets of BFG AT's in six years or so. IMHO very cost-effective .. ;)

Just some of the types of lanes I do, and have done in the Disco all on BFG AT's .. ;)
 
PaulD that bloke in the second pic looks familiar as for tyres currently running bfg mt's and they are very good on and off road and last forever, the only downfall the sidewalls seem vulnerable to damage
 
Think he's bent over 'cos the curry was following through .. ;)

Just showing what my AT's have gone through in the last year ..

There are a dam fine looking tyre, Im now so confused!! D'oh! I guess the choice will be according to how tight the wife is holding on to the purse strings at the time!! And she is part Scottish and her grip is booming good!! :doh: Lol!
 
cheapness, go with Avon Rangemaster II's bloody under rated tyres IMO.
If you can afford em BF Goodrich all terrains.

It was part of the Langdale Quest 'Medium' route. The Jeep Cherokee you can see in front was actually stuck, so I went round him and pulled him through the rest of that bit. ;)

What you couldn't see, as you can see from the flatness of the mud wallow, was that the track was actually quite well rutted and he simply got stuck up on some of the ruts ... I had enough clearance .. though there was one part that came over the rear bumper as we climbed out of a hole .. ;)

Oh that LRO tyre test sponsored by Kumho you mean?! I don't doubt that the Kumhos are a useful tyre - but it wasn't an impartial test, more of an advertorial.

The Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 was the joint winner of 4x4 Magazine’s ‘ultimate tyre test’ to establish the best mud-terrain tyre on the UK market. It shared top honours with a BFGoodrich, beating offerings from Goodyear, Wildcat, Maxxis, Cooper, INSA and Pirelli by a significant margin. All eight makes of 235/85 R16 tyres were subjected to six challenging, real-world tests, ie – mud climb, bog run, side slope, rock crawl, gravel and tarmac braking. One vehicle was involved – a 2007 Land Rover Defender 110.

The magazine found the Kumho KL71 radically different in appearance from all its competitors and, in fact, to be the best looking as well as the joint best performer. The Kumho was awarded top marks on the rock crawl and gravel braking tests and performed with credit on the mud climb and bog run. In summary, the magazine said, “The Kumho MT KL71 is a great tyre and a deserving all-round winner. Give it a try.”

Said Kumho’s Managing Director Steve Tidmarsh, “We are naturally delighted with the result. 4x4 Magazine’s test is very much in line with our own research and reinforces the confidence we have had in the KL71 from the outset. I can also reveal that the new 18in rally raid tyre we have developed for the Bowler Nemesis is based on the KL71 and that is surely the ultimate test for an MT tyre.”

But like I said, the BFG tested was the MT KM, not the new MT KM2.... So given the same choice today I'd probably get the BFG KM2 :rolleyes:

My mate runs the Kumho Road Venture MT KL71, and hes never had a problem with them, eerrrr........well........ until DV took him out for a days laning and got stuck infront of him, then the tyres didnt like tring to go backwards, so they thought to themselves "stuck???? No worries we both got winches....." Yeah well they werent much good ether and both broke!! Lol!!!! :doh:

In the end it took them about 8 hours to do 1.5miles down a lane! I didnt take the **** much, honest!!! ;-)
 
Excellent all rounder are Maxxis - last as well as BFG and fraction of the price, MT grips well on road as well as off, and runs quiet. Priced at around £50 each. Had a set on my old patrol - didn't think twice about slinging it around corners, never lost it off road, and they never seemed to wear!!

Have known many people transfer to these and swear by them - one of which is a tyre fitter!

Sorry! Should have said - the buckshots. They are excellent wearing tyre, and grip well on all surfaces. Tend to crack between the tread rather than wear out, mine were on my daily runner and laner. Took the abuse, travelling all over the country and were still in great nick when i sold it 3 years later - just with slight crazing between the tread. I did some miles too!
