The seam on the bottom of my disco doors has rotted away leaving the door skin flapping about. What is the best way to repair them?

I have seen the checker plate kits but I’m not sure about the look of them.

The checker plate is not a repair its supposed to be put onto good metal as protection...if the door bottom is rotten you'll just be hiding the problem and it'll get worse...if you can even find enough good metal to attach it to! Disco doors from fleabay aren't too expensive.

Clean all the loose **** off, then tiger seal the two together and clamp it till it sets, put some wood there before you clamp so it doesnt damage the door. Or as above, replace with newer from scrappy or ebay etc

The outside of the door skin is solid; it’s just the folded lip that holds the skin on to the steel door which has gone. I thought of the chequered plate as it screws on which would hold everything together where as screws on there own wouldn’t look good.

I will try just cleaning everything up and sealing it all together.

Cheers.

small lengths of angle Ally, screwed to base of door inside and then bonded to outer panel, then judicious amounts of seam sealant along the join. follow it up by spraying inside door with waxoil or bodyschutz.
