You know more than me, as I didn't know they don't collect sales brochures, but then Ive never asked.
I don't collect brochures but they do mount up because when I buy a vehicle I make sure I have an applicable sale brochure, brochures an excellent means of authenticated information.

I tried to keep quiet on this subject, but it seems like others have something to say about it too.
Stupid, no, but frankly I do find it a bit sad that somebody should if not collecting them, make a point of retaining sales brochures "on the off chance that somebody might want to know ten or fifteen years down the line". More worrying is that the exact page that was required could be produced at a moment's notice; it's a credit to meticulous cataloguing. No doubt the hallway is stacked high with fully catalogued and referenced copies of the local newspaper, right back to the "Coronation Special Edition" with the full centre page pull-out.

My sales brochures were obtained way before LR Forums were thought off, ok maybe in the off chance they could valuable one day, which they are, it's something a classic car enthusiasts or any other old car enthusiasts do, something that owning one sometimes requires some technical and mechanical ability, don't forget keeping the brochures of the car shows visited, and also keeping a car I purchased new 40 years ago now valued a great deal more, on the road.

As for maticulous cataloging well, as I'm a co director in a successfully company it comes with the territory in meeting the standard... we have inspection you know... and keeping all the electrical service and parts manuals stored in the companies technical library which need looking after and may or no be useful.

As for news papers, well the nationals they may get left on the train in the morning, never bought a local paper in my life, Coronation ? before my time but not yours I suspect.

How very impressive, you must be very proud.

I'd have thought you could manage to feel good about yourself without trying to make others look bad.

A little practice and you may discover that being helpful for its own sake has its own rewards :)
 
I won't comment on my comedic abilities, other than to say I obviously have more of a sense of humour than some others, and I can claim a thicker skin too. As to my mechanical abilities, I would have to disagree with you there, my introduction to engines was around the age of eight when I lapped in my first set of valves in a side valve engine (Google it) for my father. I was rebuilding engines by my early teens and started work on my own vehicles by the time I was seventeen. And I would advise you not even to think about questioning my abilities in the field of electronics. As you youngsters would say, don't even go there.
As for the Coronation, yes, I do remember it. I also remember being told something about respect for ones "elders and betters".

Sounds like a es spec motor
 
I had a similar problem years ago. the story was special vehicles dept built it because they were short of work and didn't fancy filling in the forms properly.

I bought mine new in May 2000 and it IS a W reg.
 
Sounds like the same spec as mine which is an ES,does it have 7 seats? That seems to make a bit of difference to my insurance, don't put any faith in the ins company looking it up,they tried to tell me mine is a manual when it clearly isnt

The site i posted above tells you which spec it is, even the day it was first registered and the MOT history.

Er so was i mate. Point is, if he types his reg in to that site it will tell him, instead of messing about trying to compare number of seats, electrics, leather and looking at spec listings and all that bollocks.
