146k . I've owned from new. I'll keep it untill its no longer viable.
2004 td4 auto.
Have kept mpg from 63k and average has risen from 28 to 31mpg now.
Lowest was 25/highest was 36.

Your getting the same MPG as mine, give or take. Mine did 30 Mpg in the summer dropping to 28.8 in winter. I suspect that using my FBH remote has nipped a bit off the overall MPG. It's worth it though, getting into a nice warm car in the morning;)

Yep winter does take a couple off.

I use 'car minder' app. As you can see (this graph runs From April 11) the trend is upward regardless. Only 62k in first 7yrs but 103k in next 6yrs.

G'day @bikerguy34 good to see another Freelander owner/member in Christchurch (even though you have been on here a lot longer than me!). Would be good to see a Hi from you on the https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/gday-folks.286341/ thread.

What's happened to the sun - was glorious down the Mak this morning!

Always amazes me how poor the fuel consumption is on most TD4 autos.

My one and only stuck in a garage green mean machine have 81k on a clock. No bad for Y2K haha. Low milage caused probably by time spend in various garages.
Happy Freelanding Troops.

The auto is worse on fuel because the auto box is slipping at the torque converter (TC) a lot of the time. It's only once the speed is above 40 Mph or so that the TC clutch locks up. Once locked, fuel consumption should be only slightly less than its manual box counterpart. So at say a steady 60 Mph (100 Kms) the auto is similar to the manual.
The Freelander in nicer to drive in an auto and is better off road too. There aren't those 70K miles costly clutch changes either. Imo, these are good reasons to pay slightly more at the pump!
