hi guys just changed air filter and came across this pipe just floating around near air box, it goes under the fan cowling and back to a block of small pipes, green in colour, the block the controls the egr? Should it be connected to anything? Cheers.

It connects to the side of the air filter box, you will see a nipple for it to slide on to. Not 100 percent but think its something for the vacuum pump near the alternator.

its just below your hand in that pic, not on the lid that comes out, but on the actual box below. If you really cant see it remove the lid and filter might help, worst case its snapped off, but you will feel the hole.

it will go to the port on the airbox near the aap sensor. its an exhaust for the solonids that control the egr.
if the egr has been blanked and solonids by coolant bottle unplugged you can ignore it

Will have another look in a bit, just done a search and seems a lot of people have it floating around and that’s it’s a vent for the vacuum/ egr system? So if it stays lose like that then it won’t do any harm? Got a 1000 mile trip starting tomorrow.

Worst thing it'll do.. is you'll have a little hole in your airbox :p
hmm.. I always figured it sucked air, kinda seems pointless bringing the pipe to the other side of the engine bay just to dump air in the filter.

It does if all it does is vent, would have been easier just up toward bulkhead. Just got worried before seeing pipe floating about and having a look to see if the other half of it was hanging about. Least it’s nothing major.

that's what it is, nr 22 named "vent hose to airbox" ... it's connected to the airbox to not let water or dirt getting in it cos when vacuum is applied to the solenoids there is sucction in that pipe and it vents when vacuum is cut... if that pipe gets clogged the solenoid might become sticky as the backpressure doesnt let it travel
