seriously How long between filter changes ? you would expect a little witness wear if the interval had been more than 8000k

This torque converer and assuming box had about 90k at failure.
Fluid and filter had been done 20k prior
Sump emptyed and refilled 10k prior

I got 2 shudders in wales 500miles from home took my chance and just carried on home and took it off the road till i got another gearbox. Once i removed it and when i opened it up thats all the metal that was there.

I spoke to a transmission individual. He said torque converter is due to fail anytime

I wouldn't jump to conclusions but read on here about the GM box in the meantime. The fact it got to 108k miles is good going, especially if it hasn't had regular oil changes. Unfortunately if it is that far gone the fresh oil might push it over the edge. People tend to upgrade bits like the valve block. Bemble is the gearbox God on there things. If he doesn't know about it, no-one does.

Yes I understand that oil change could kill it. That's played on my mind ever since I changed it. I made sure to follow filling procedures with temperature etc. I think I removed 5.5 litres, and stuck roughly the same back. That's see. Drove it last night completely different changing gear... could be the final push. )))) oh well I've got it sorted if it blows up.
