Gonna lift the defender when i rebuild all the suspension, axles etc.
Obvious things needed for the lift are Shocks, springs , extended brake lines, turret rings.
With a 2 inch lift are cranked arms and propshaft spacers needed?
Is there anything vitally important i have overlooked?
cheers

shocks and springs obviously, castor corrected radius and trailing arms in (most cases) new turrets, spring retaining bars, wide angle propshafts, turret rings, extended brake lines, extended bump stops, dislocation cones and more bits and bobs to do it properly. Unless you are fitting larger tyres then there is not really a sensible reason to do it given the potential costs.

Do a search and there will be a lot of threads about this

A lot of people say you can do a 2" lift with just the kit itself, though of course every vehicle is different so it can affect each car differently.

amen jp....
:pop2:

Sorry chaps, i meant a quite a bit of that stuff is often needed, not always tho. Some vehicles seem fine without castor correction but others are horrific without it.

Spoon of insanity, your best bet if you go ahead would be to do springs and shocks but keep money aside in case you do need to get other bits.

WLM you got your 300 all done now?

Harry

not often and not always though...
not for a 2", in my opinion....

if you go for a 4" and over, yes, all those bits are likely to be required, but on a 2", the difference on working angles is minimal.

i lifted mine by 2", only did springs and shocks at first then castor corrected everything. i found it made a huge difference to the handling. but as u say different for every vehicle.

Thanks for the info guys the parts i had budgeted for where springs, shocks, turret rings and extended brake lines and a full polybush.
I already have the larger wheels and tyres but haven't fitted them. If i have any problems the cranked arms and prop extensions can be bought at a later date. thanks again

I would fit the bigger wheels and tyres and see what its like. If you still want more height afterthat then lift it. Don't change too many things at once as if something goes wrong its harder to pinpoint the problem.
