I have just rebuilt a Land Rover 90 but nothing seems to match , the front callipers cost a fortune as there not standard defender type, it has a 2386 petrol engine and 10 inch drums on the rear instead of 11 inch. Is it a pre production as it is B reg not C ??

The chassis number will reveal a lot about the vehicle, decode it here:

I think all early 90s had 10" brakes but I could be wrong. The early (pre 85) models had a 2286, 5MB, petrol engine (not suitable for unleaded). I have no idea hoe 'rare' early front calipers are though.
Welcome to the madhouse by the way

Yes fat finger syndrome 2286 cc I’m contemplating dropping a 200 tdi into it but don’t want to wreck the provenance so checking all avenues first

Early 90s with original engine etc will be rare beasts now I would have thought, worth more than a conversion of the same age, I'd be inclined to restore it back to factory spec and if it's not the vehicle for you sell it and get a 200/300tdi.
