as much as i love my rangie i bought recently the 'boat effect' handling is still annoying me, do you guys tend to use the motorway height setting for normal road driving to stop it swaying about so much ?

im still thinking of getting lpg fitted but want to be sure im going to be happy with it in the long term :)

im sure the motorway setting only functions once you get to a constant 50/60 mph,the only other way is to get someone to lower the height settings in the eas ecu for normal driving.

Yup....I always have mine manually set to motorway. If i don't, my missus tend to end up like a squashed fly on passenger window.

when its automatically goes into motorway (above 50) mode press the inhibitor switch and it remans low even driving slow :)

if you have a look at storey wilsons site here then you will understand the eas a bit better.

LR spent lots of money developing the suspension and setting up the heights, the people involved were much more familiar with the eas than you or me, keep this in mind!

if you download the software and instructions to it, it explains what should and should not be done! the values for each of the height catagories are as folows:

Front Rear
Extended 120-180 105-150
Standard 95-150 85-130
Low 75-140 75-120
Access 50-110 50-100

you could set the standard height to near the low height thus giving no difference between motoway and normal!

this will only cost you a few quid for a lead, the software is free and you can return it to the original heights if your not happy with the settings, you must keep a record of the original values, i suggest a word/notpad document and a printed copy tucked away just incase!

you can solder a plug in to the wires on the obd2 plug as i have done to make access easier to the eas or build/buy a dedicated cable. i soldered it because i didnt have an obd2 plug available and i couldnt wait to test my theory of making a dedicated plug on the car!

there are piccys somewhere on the site or:

as you can see, its near the obd plug and in actual fact cannot be seen unless you are looking for it! i think it doesnt look obtrusive although i do have a plan to add my lpg plug down there too, the lpg one is the same as eas but different colour, another reason i wanted this set up so i could easily plug into eas or lpg without extra cables/adaptors!

be careful and always have a good battery or engine running when operating the eas!

if you need any more info let me know!

Well you might as well just keep it in motorway mode.

On mine at least you can select motorway mode if you have the button that looks like a flat tyre pressed

As for altering the EAS ECU using that software, I've done it and lowered the motorway mode slightly and increased the height of the highest setting to reflect the G3 air springs I fitted.

Lowering it seems to make a big difference to normal driving, as did replacing the shocks. Maybe its worth replacing the suspension items first.

Sounds to me like your shocks are shot, mine does not wallow around in the way you describe.
The motorway height that comes in at 50mph plus is, as far as I know, not adjustable. The BECM calculates this from the normal height setting. Thus if you lower the normal height setting, the motorway height setting will also be lower so you could end up on the bump stops:eek::eek::eek:
Apart from the reliability issues, the air suspension is bloody great and not so unreliable if it's well maintained.:D:D:D

i might just test that theory, i reckon it will go to the preset low setting or what would be the point of having the setting?

It can't be a fixed preset as if you change a sensor it would not know what height to go to. I'm sure it is a calculated figure from the normal height setting. As you know the figures are different for each wheel to get the vehicle level. The ECU then just applies a deduction from those figures to lower the suspension at 50mph. Leastways thats how it looks to me:D I will look at the EAS software again but I don't recall seeing a setting for motorway height.

when i had the eas kicker, the only height settings i could get on it,were access/standard and extended it didn,t give one for motorway.
my belief is the motorway setting changes depending on speed, the faster you go the lower the car will go to keep the centre of gravity down to keep the vehicle stable, and on my vogue model if i press the suspension lock button in on motorway setting,it won,t lock it,because once you get back to town driving speed ie 30 mph the car will go to standard setting,i don,t know if this is something landrover did when bmw had ownership,or if it,s a fault, but as it is working ok im happy

OK I just checked the RSW software and it does allow the motorway height to be adjusted, the setting is referred to as " Low Profile" All 4 settings can be read and adjusted.

So, SORRY, my first response was WRONG:doh::doh::doh: Old age and a dodgy memory:(:(:(

Just make sure you're on flat ground when you do start ajusting it

I did have a chat with Storey Wilson the chap that made the software about his improved height sensors

I might build them and add them to mine (he'll give you a parts list) then you can increase the height even further

ive just come back from savacenters car park... amazing how unlevel it ive redone my sus but leaning slightly one corner... gotta find a level place to park

i have done 70 miles today, before departing i put the 'manual mode' button in and selected the motorway height, my journey thru country roads and towns was a lot better than at the standard height, so why oh why does the standard height exist if it tries to throw your passengers out the window :D
