I don't know if this counts but I hooked my girlfriends King Charles Spaniels (no not tits) to the tow hook and forgot about them. She got in it a few minutes later and started the car, now normally I would just let her go, but it would have been my fault so I stopped her from pulling away.

Yep same here, ancient Ifor Williams with normally one 16.2 horse, two now and again!
Our trailer needed new floor, and I was reluctant to spend the money but the trailer guy reckoned our old IW would outlast the newer ones, which apparently are not as solid.
Disco averages 27 mpg (TD5 manual) which given most of it is either short distances or towing isnt bad. Never needed low range despite some quite steep hill starts, but it's good to know it's there in case of need......

I pulled a tree out the ground the other day, it'd fallen but roots were still well into the ground, couple of straps, off i went n nothing, low range, diff lock and a couple of snatches n she came out :lol:

Being into Steam Rollers and Tractionengines i had to pull my mates roller out of a field . If you know anything about rollers you will know that they have little traction on wet grass so hitched up and low box jently pulled it out. I thought 8 ton to be a good test.!!!

Don't you need linked brakes and a tacko to tow a unbalanced trailer?

The trailer is fully compliant with regulations as of 2011 and has brakes on all three axles.
Overrun brakes on drawbar trailers has now been banned in the UNECE Harmonisation regulations, but there are plenty around in Europe:
Because of the UNECE Harmonisation, this class of lightweight trailers is probably going to disappear, unless you have air or electric braking.
A tachograph is only required if the trailer is used for commercial purposes, private use does not require one.
The huge spring in the second picture is to keep the drawbar level when disconnected from the car.

Pretty common in Holland/Belgium/Germany.
There were a few companies importing them into the UK, but they are quite expensive once the transport costs are added.
Bateson Trailer did build them, but note the new legislation is making this unviable:

Ye the bateson one is great for what I want, will keep a look out on flebay. Concidering a 18' tri axle but non local enough...

We use a 16ft by 7'6 Bateson, it's an awesome trailer a guy down the road has a 20ft

I have only had mine a couple of months but biggest thing so far was a mates IFOR 16ft trailer with a rather sizeable tree trunk which filled the trailer.
Also I will no doubt be pulling this old girl out the mud a couple of times this year with the Discovery. Last year my old Terrano and dads Trooper had to.

Latest adventure
16 1/2 foot empty car trailer from UK to Warsaw and back again but carrying a VW Beetle full of camping gear and large box of other things in it, back of disco was full of snap on tool boxes and garden machinery
55mph for nearly 2000 miles A15 / A50 / A12 / E30
20 hours there, 20 hours back stopping only for fuel and conveniences
Only issues was 2 small straps rubbed through on front axle, windscreen washer jets froze until continental fluid was purchased and used
