General messing about, started to properly make some rock and tree sliders .. which have already evolved into steps too .. :)
 
Foam on underside of drivers footwell soaked. Took out to dry. Took up footwell, sealed and nice new stainless bolts instead of screws. Sealed every crevice and wire entry from bulkhead/engine. Inspected now dry mats to fine a 10mm split in the rubber - buggar buggar buggar :hysterically_laughi
 
Bought a new push rod, got a valve spring off me old cylinder head and gana replace the one that snapped in half.
Still don't know what would cause it to break..
Is not making me any happyer doing a long a trip at the weekend and that happens lol
 
It's being done tomorrow (hopefully). Slightly concerned about the bill to follow but hey ho, was ****ing out doozel over my drive yesterday, and down the road so I guess I need to bite the bullet! Luckily this happened the day after a round trip to Sheffield.....

how did a plastic tank end up holed? has someone drilled it to intentionally remove the diesel?

No, apparently (I know bugger all so bear with me) a pipe at the top has broken and can't be fixed? Looking underneath yesterday the underside of the tank was soaked both sides and dripping in more than one spot.

its unlikely to be the tank its self.

likely culprit would be a cracked pump head (its an in tank pump, the head of which is external), a cracked fuel pipe or a fuel pipe union (connection) to the pump.
get garage to diagnose problem and call you prior to fixing. theres an access panel in the boot floor to get to the pump and associated pipework. leakages should be evident with engine running.

pumps range from 60 quid fleabay specials, to 230ish quid for genuine dealer pumps. pipes would be less depending on which may be split.

ask for the faulty parts to be returned to you, or at least be available for inspection.
(assuming they show you bits from your motor.......)
