Cleaned, re set timimg (I think) and slapped new belt on. Also put new push rods in and tightened them up I think.

Time to re build, hoping the old girl starts up :)

I've been pursuing my quest for windscreen wiper reliability and efficiency today. I replaced the last piece in the jigsaw, namely the wiper control unit (well, people call it a relay but there's a lot more than a relay in there) and things seem very decisive and efficient in the wiper action at all settings now. The old one fell apart in my hands as I tried to take it out. I also got some trim fastenings and a thing for the lock button to run in on the driver's side door. So now the trim panel stays on and the door catch/lock mechanism seems better now. I oiled the window winder mechanism too, and now it is really easy to wind the window up and down.

Flushed the radiator system and put new antifreeze in as the fluid what was in looked like leadfarmers poo:eek:
Removed steering wheel ujs (took some hammering, looked like they had never been changed) and fitted new, no more play in the wheel ;) now need to make a minor adjustment as the wheels not straight , and attempted to fit new downpipe exhaust, but it's been raining allday and I have given up, if any ones fitted one what's the best way to gain access to the bolts at the manifold end? Take inner wheel arch out ? No room to get in at it as is and it is obstructed by engine mount to use a extension bar. Also got oil to swap in both diffs but I will do that tomorrow if weathers better :)

Looked at taking the centre seat out and making a cubby box for it, with a sat-nav/laptop mount on top.

Only looked mind, actually did nothing .. ;)

Took propshafts off and collected replacement chassis:)

seem to recall yours was a 300tdi disco engine?
in which case it could be a bit of a nightmare in a fender

Yep disco engine:(
Two of the bolts are accessable but one is directly above the engine mount,
Think I will be able to get at it with the inner wing/wheel arch out, it was a half hearted attempt todY ad I was getting soaked on the drive :(

Stuck my watet pump back on. New gaskey glued on. Bolted power steering pump brackey and pump back on. Just need to fill coolant system, powet steering. Going yo check rocker clearance as im not sure about it. Got me a 0.2mm feeler thing. Then its the moment of truth to see if it will fire up!

Phoned up the garage we bought it from. Amber TC & HDC started coming on Tuesday morning. Brake light switch. But as it's still under warranty they have agreed to sort it out.

been using my disco as a bead breaker and switched out the perished 205r16 tyres for these 7.50r16 general super grips :) was some tough work getting the old tyres off but not too bad getting the new ones on

Changed rear prop donut, diff input seal, both rear wheel bearing replaced, new rear pads, new front and rear diff oils, new front trailing arm bushes to chassis and completely set of front radius arm bushes which were a pig to get in and out. Didn't get to patch my inner arch though so that's for next day off I think

Fitted new bump stops but forgot to put copper slip on washers.
Will the brackets rot off now?

And cleaned some parts and treated them with chemical stuff to stop the rust, paint them later:)

Absolutely chuffed to bits! Filled the radiator with water until I can get some more antifreeze. Filled the powet steering system. Didn't even put turbo hoses on I was so eager. Turned the key and it fired right up. Stuck the othet bits back on and took it for a drive. Ran lovely. No smoke. Need to the hose about because its pinching one of the turbo hoses so its not winding up properly.

Not bad at all. We shall see if any problems arise in time

Repaired exhaust downpipe as the one I bought didn't fit, straightened steering wheel, and painted my wheels, side arches and chequer plate black:) also jet washed her and cut down and welded my roof rack, now just need to weld side brackets to mount to gutter and it will be ready to paint & fit :)
Also tried to practice weld some aluminium, but got fed up, wire kept tangling at wire feed section, anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

That chassis is so shiny and solid I like that:p

You'll have to come over when the chassis is rolling and have a look, not going overboard on parts for it, just replacing anything that is badly worn and all brake pipes and fittings. :)
