Had an M10 bolt shear on the axle / swivle ball, so not even a part i could discard and replace easily..................................I got lucky though and managed to extract the B@stard, took all afternoon mind.
 
Changed the oil on the auto box on my td5 disco and checked the diff level. This weekend I have to replace the air suspension springs as one is leaking!!
 
I've driven it from Leicester to my friend's house near Newtown in mid-Wales. Lovely night drive trough a crisp and frosty landscape. I left it til late because there was a major incident on the M6 and I was hoping the traffic would clear.

My steering feels very slack, as if there's a lot of play in it. I hope it's something I can adjust at the steering box. I don't fancy shelling out for a new steering box this near Christmas after I've already spent all my money! I shall have a look at it properly when it gets light and see if I can work out where the play is.

The play will most likely be in the ball joints

Check drop arm ball joint (If you have one depending on year) failing that check ball joints on drag link both ends, track rod both ends and then wheel bearings swivels.

Re post 17331, well spotted Jai, it was indeed the drop arm ball joint. It had lost its circlip, end cap and spring. Fairly cheap repair. In fact it cost me nothing, because as a temporary measure I swiped the bits off my friend's Land Rover. It's on SORN at the moment. I wil tell him when he gets back (I won't just let him think his has fallen out!), and buy us both new kits when I get back to civilisation. Where I am here it's a 40 mile trip to the nearest legitimate source of parts (and that's a main stealer), so it's bushcraft repairs for us!
 
I have sealed all the draughts. Tighten the doors up so they seal, Replaced the thermostat. Removed the Visco fan and fitted a Kenlow electric. The fluids seem to be clear. But it takes about 15 miles before any heat starts to come through then its only warm air coming through. I even tried a rad muff which didn't seem to make any difference. I'm thinking of trying the 88 degree thermostat to see if that makes any difference.

What engine. I stuck an after market one on and it's on the 88-91 degree thermostat. Disco 200tdi runs at 86-87 standard
