What have you done to your Landie today.

Well after my disco td5 being of the road for a little while over the summer months I have got it taxed for 6 months and will be using it over the winter unless it is sold on the meantime, checked all fluids this morning, tyre pressures and trickle charged the battery all at and night and hey presto started first turn! Jobs soon to be done are engine oil and filter, air filter and to check gearbox oil as couldn't get to it earlier. It's a little different to drive than what I remember compared to my Astra vxr !

fitted new fuel sender as the pipes comin out the top of the old one were so rusty they were porous..

what a pain!! working though that little hole in boot floor, more blood than paint there now...

couldnt get connectors undone, so much rust everythin was locked solid, so snapped pipes off, held the nut on the fuel line side with a stilson and a ring spanner on other nut... and they came undone//

cleaned out the threads with some needle files, went back together in 5 mins...

hope this one lasts another 15 years so i never have to do this job again!!!!

Fitted new rear springs, think the old ones sagged a bit

Well not had chance to do anything on the Disco until today due to deing off my feet for the last month.

So today I fitted a new exhaust that i got from paddocks.
A very nice single box "sports" exhaust.
The old one came off easy as it had rusted through where the intermediate pipe joins the rear section. The new pipe looks very good quality and is a very good fit.
The whole job took around 30 mins and now the Disco picks up so much better.


Just a tip for anyone doing this jack up the rear off the chassis before you start and spray a bit of lube on the exhaust rubbers and the exhaust comes out very easy and the new one just slots into place with just a bit of twisting.
And when you fasten it together try using RTV sealant instead of exhaust paste as it seals very well and because it dosnt go like cement it comes apart really easy.

Fitted new fuel filter, I'm sure it goes better now, or is it me ?

Drove it to Tadley Hamps to pick up me noo 8274 winch & bumper.

replaced speedo cable eventually

Replaced the front n/s swivel and new swivel pins and bearings & oil seal, new wheel bearings, seals and gaskets. Started at 9.00am finished at 7.00pm! Had a few knackered bolts to contend with!

I went to move my landy this morning on the way out to a job and found the plip wasn't doing anything. I was in a hurry so had to leave it until after work.

After getting back from work tonight I pulled the plip apart and re-soldered the battery holder. All is now back to normal. :clap2:
