I used to own a range rover p38 mark II trying to sell it coz i need some cash.

If it is the same as TD5 Disco I have found it is handy to loosen it then put a dog poo bag around it then take it off. It catches most of the oil!Changed oil and filter in my TD5 Defender. I just wish I could meet the juvenile paper engineer who put the oil filter in a totally inaccessible place

You should try changing the oil filter on a 2.4 VM, silly wotsits mounted it upside down, loads of rags, a silicon cooking tray and plastic bags gets most of it - sometimes.If it is the same as TD5 Disco I have found it is handy to loosen it then put a dog poo bag around it then take it off.
