What have you done to your Landie today.

In my defender the army put the front side lights and indicators in the wrong places, so me indicators are at the top and sidelights at the bottom and it should be the other way round.

I went to swap them back but thought better of it. If I fiddle something will break and they are working fine as is.

So I tidied the garage and get the compressor all sorted for when my dinitrol arrives :-D

Bit pedantic but int that What haven't you done to your Landy today :p :D :D

Here's a present for all those that need one:

Technically yesterday ...

Started looking at the alternator and battery after last weekend .. but it was the winch!

Solenoids were stuck open, and a motor field winding insulator had burnt out causing it to be 'on' all the time but not working! Took ages to find .. then stripped motor down, took all the burnt bits out replaced 'em with some 'proper' insulated washers, rebuilt it then looked at the solenoid pack.

Opened it up, one of the posts was loose and had moved out of line so wasn't moving any more .. easy fix, and very dry inside so waterproofing worked .. ;)

Now winch works, alternator putting out about 14.4/5 v and battery holding charge again!

Happy.

Took all the bits I've removed from the landy over the last few weeks to the dump, in the landy.

Oh, and adjusted the washers so that the drivers side gets some water.

Bored now after weeks of working on her.

Found out why, after this .. North Yorks .. the Disco let in water and the stickiest, stinkiest mud _ever_ when I _know_ the door seals are mostly intact ..

Nearside after carpets and trim removed ...

Offside, much better shape, no rust at all ..

Boot floor, fine, surface rust only .. ;)

No, you've got it slightly wrong Paul. It let in the stickiest, stinkiest mud ever, cause you went playing in it :p:p:p:p:p:D:D:D:D:D:D

Technically accurate.

Last year it got in 'cos I opened the door whilst stuck ..

I guess it's my fault whichever way it gets in then .. :)

Picked the guard up for a tenner. The galv isn't perfect but it will last.

Bearing in mind that I only fitted the new tank and guard two years ago the rust worm had been busy. I rubbed the tank down and applied plenty hammerite. The new guard was covered in waxoyl prior to fitting.

Red, your diplomatic skills would gain respect from Sun Tzu himself......

Maybe you should seek new employment with DIfD or the UN - free trip to Syria :D

A couple of patches at the bottom of the OS A & B Pillars.

Found out I need a new inner sill as well as the outer :(.

Yesterday, had a spare 1/2 hour so I got the injectors out of my cylinder head. Only two had sealing washers and the two that didn't had been letting gasses by and were well stuck.

Managed to use the new welder to weld a nut to the end of an old slide hammer and that did the job so I was well impressed that my first effort at welding something useful worked. It was definitely a case of 'function over form' though :)

Took me rotten bulkhead off - rusty nuts bolts screws everywhere , need a list making of new stuff required :screaming_bug_eye_f

Not today really, it were at the weekend. Changed the throttle cable, since it was somewhat knackered. Fitted a new (used) dickie seat cos it was missing one. Cleaned up (scraped the crud & rust off) the front diff (to check out the damage i did after i drove into a rock the size of a fiat panda) painted it, then fitted a diff guard.
