Well I didn't use the GKN ones! I wish I has! I was recomended some engineering company by bell,
But bearings only lasted a year!

So now I'm buying GKN!

Mine didn't quite last a year before I started to hear them rumble. Bit disappointed really as they were from bell too. I thought it was from when I had to go through the floods though. Still I got gkn this time round

Been through as much floods as possible with my GKN and no probs at all... I know they are dear, and the prices have rocketed up in the last couple of years, but I really think the others are a false economy. I'd rather pay more and only fit once.

I got 2x gkn for £70. Didn't think it was that bad. I can't remember the exact figure but it's not a lot more than I payed bell I'm sure

Sold another lift kit, only have one set left now...debating making another batch or not, hmmm decisions decisions

delusional.

even if you do look after them, they are a crap design, poorly executed and poorly built.

no amount of servicing will stop subframe mounts breaking are HGF.

Mine is an 02 1.8 with 79000, best £700 quid I ever spent, did some work on it when I got it as it had been neglected mechanically (3 amigos were on and some clown had cut the wires trying to put em out, ABS sensor sorted that out, pair of front wheel bearings, diff mount, clutch cylinder and a window winder) changed all fluids and serviced it. Head had been done with a big fat receipt to prove plus new rad, chap I bought it off said he was ill with it and it was a shed, its probably the best 4x4 I have had and I have had Mercs, a Rangey and other money pits. Check things over often and you stand a better chance of avoiding a nightmare!

For those with vcu bearings that keep failing... buying good quality bearings is a must but they also have to be put on carefully so as not to damage the bearing.
