reconnected starters exciter wire.
no idea how it came off but no fun turning the key and nothing happening in the morning...

started my homemade bike rack, "how to..." will be posted when finished.

Finally got round to fitting my soft a bar

What a pain....... Had to grind off all the screws holding the arch liners and also the 10mm ones holding bumper to wing...... Was going to replace those with a 10mm nut and bolt but can't get my hand in there to put bolt in!!!

Will leave the light pods for another day!!!

Took the new tumble dryer, hoover and microwave home in it... Then emptied it out for my bike to go in the back tomorrow

Gave it a big ego boost!

Driving back along the river bed after fishing this evening and past a Hilux stuck in a hole :) The rather pathetic thing had a huge lift and huge wheels but was still stuck in a puddle - all-be-it a bit of a deep one. So I stopped and asked if they would like their monster truck Hilux pulled out by a Freelander :)

After a few more minutes of huffing and puffing and steam clouds, they did manage to get themselves out - so we'll never know if the Freelander would have managed to drag it out - but even so the monster Hilux was very embarased at the thought of needing to be pulled out of a pudde by a Freelander :)

Pioneer touch screen blue tooth unit complete with reversing camera,Daytime running lights and land rover puddle lights in the doors.

Mot myth ain't going to die, cos peeps still bring it up!
Been playing in Teesdale today, finally found out TC light works! Took doing even on road suv tyres on thick wet foliage over clay mud, couldn't stand on it! I love my Hippo, Ted the Gent!!

Happy New Year freelandiers, have a healthy & happy 2014

Fitted my new RoadHawk camera as I knew I was in work tonight (NYE) and have to run the gauntlet of "foreign" drivers who have no road sense. So I'm writing this from the Office , on my break of course, while most of you are having a good time.I could REALLY use a cold one right now...........Oh well, back to work. At least I can see all the fireworks from the office !

Cleaned the back out.

Got a call from my boy who's away with his mates in Queenstown saying he was taking a detox from drinking and catching up on sleep by taking a couple of days out fishing the Waitaki system. So jumped in the Freelander and met up with him at Otematata. Forgot the chilli bin so the fish went in a plastic bag together with a bag of ice from the pub!

Anyway a 2 day bag limit of Salmon and melting ice seeping from the bag left a nasty wiff, so on return had orders to clean it up!

Best of British....

How do you find the RoadHawk? My brother is wanting a camera for his car after someone reversed into his freshly painted car in the work car park the Friday before Christmas!

Nothing. Weather's ****e....

Need to take belts off again and check which pulley is making the shrieking noise again. I suspect the cheapo AC pulley has gone again. I chose a cheapy for that (and Gates for the rest) as it was easiest to replace and most exposed to water and crud, but I would have expected more than a couple of months!! I've got a mechanic's stethoscope on order so that will help diagnose without removal too.

My auxiliary belt tensioner pulley started squealing a couple of months ago after going wading a few times, but I thought.. I'll get round to changing it soon.
Well... on Tuesday queueing in traffic there was suddenly a lot of smoke coming out of the engine bay so I pulled up to find the pulley had seized and promptly taken out the belt !
I phoned my mate to come and recover me and he towed me to his garage.
I started the engine to reverse onto his ramps and all of a sudden the engine stopped dead!
The broken auxiliary belt had wrapped itself round the cam belt and snapped it !
So.. now I need a cam belt, auxiliary belt and a new tensioner pulley, oh and a new cam belt cover too :(

Cam belt and auxiliary belt were ordered and cam belt put on..
Luckily there is no damage to the engine and she runs as sweet as ever. Just waiting on the arrival of the cam belt cover and auxiliary belt tensioner, which aren't coming until Friday.

What engine do you have? If it's l series they can sometimes seem ok after a problem with a cambelt but have actually bent pushrods or more likely cracked cam followers. I ignored mine as it went wrong just before Christmas last year and I was going to strip the engine after Xmas, but still used it for essential short journeys. After all it only had a little ticking sound. The cracked cam followers then turned into little pieces which in turn ruined and engine. A little bit of Xmas complacentcy on my part cost me a lot of money.

Yes it's an L series.
I am just hoping and praying that it won't have done any damage as the engine was literally just turning over to start when it went.

I won't really know until I get the engine warm but that's not going to happen until Friday when the tensioner turns up.
It did sound it's normal self when we turned it over to see if it was fecked though... just a little lumpy when cold, but we didn't keep her running.
