What have you done to your Freelander today

Removed props and VCU for summer. But it will give me an opportunity to replace the boot on the front props CV joint and check the VCU's bearings

Had the first pair of Yokohama Geolander tyres fitted to the front of the Freelander. They look good and have a TWI of 500 so should last well. I can't wait until funds allow me to change the rear tyres too

I really should learn to read freds more carefully

Done 220ish miles in it! Didn't break down once mud terrains really got on my tits tho

Why should it break? If you look after it, like I'm sure you do, it will look after you MTs can be tiring on a long run. That's why I am giving the Geolanders a go.

Pulled all of the door cards off and cleaned up the speaker connections. I've now gone from three working speakers to nine!

Even with them all working I'd describe the sound as adequate rather than high end - boomy and a fair bit of distortion at higher volumes.

Are they all like this or is there something wrong with mine?

Tried to fix my clock the other day and decided it wasn't worth the hassle so I bought a new clock. Got that working.

Other than that I haven't had much chance to do much lately!

Speakers seem pants in my freelander. Absolutly no bass what so ever. Any ideas what the sizes of the standard mids are?

They are 6.5 inch mate.

Cheers matey, think a decent set of 6.5 inch components amped up may be on the cards. Don't wanna sub woofer it just yet as I'd prefer the space. I just can't believe how little bass the standard set up has. Guess I've been spoilt in the past.

Witnessed it dying I think....................
After we started it today I noticed it running on three cylinders . My wife , who's car it is then told me that it was running rough on the way home from work on Friday ........
I went to remove the plugs and found No1 plug seized solid in the head . The other three came out easy enough and it was myself who fitted them about six months ago.
Mmmmm ? tried and tried but it was apparent that no amount of normal pull would shift it. Plugged all the leads back in and started it only to hear a clink and then nothing , further attempts on the starter resulted in the starter motor spinning but not turning the engine .
I removed the three other plugs and got a socket on the crank pulley and it turned OK but I really don't want to try again in case a part of the plug has dropped .
Will seek some advice tomorrow but if it is a head off case and there is damage it's the end of a ten year relationship as it is just not worth spending money on it even though it is in unmarked condition otherwise.

I put a Bluetooth alpine CD player in mine yesterday. Just need to decide where to put the microphones is like it on the a pillar but need to work out how to remove the pillers does it it just pull?

the cappings of the a pillars do just unclip. BUT...

you might get trouble with wind noise if you mount the microphone there. much better to undo the sunvisor screws and the little sunglass holder thing in the middle, thread the cable through and have the microphone just coming out from under the sunglass holder in the centre of the car.

The door speakers are ok for a frequency response down to 40ish Hz and do take a proper 25 watts rms, the factory head unit is pants delivering a paltry 7 watts a channel. My sub uses space i didn't.

Maybe it's dicky wiring on mine then as I have replaced the head unit now with an alpine one. The front ones serverly cackle now when turned up to any half decent volume. I'll bite the bullet at some point and buy and amp, components and some sound deadening. More focused at the moment on getting it in a serviceable order so I don't get any nasty surprises. I nearly cracked though with no music on my daily commute so I gave in and went and bought the head unit (my standard one was locked and wouldnt work).
