What have you done to your Freelander today

I hate frustrating jobs. I've learnt that once things start going wrong, I might as well put away the tools for the day and go have a nice cup of tea. Once one things goes wrong, everything else starts going wrong!
That's what I do too.
Heater matrix is a pain. I haven't even looked at the one in a Freelander,
It's a pain to do, but not overly so. I think it was about 3 or 4 hours, when I did one on my 50th Anniversary FL1. I took lots of pictures, so I could reference back to them later. But the pictures weren't really needed in the end. Finding all the fixings and making sure all the wiring was back in the correct places was the worst part of the whole job.
 
Pimped the sound system. Now I have Alpine:

UTE-200BT as unit
PWE-S8 under seat subwoofer
S-S65C as medium + high

Mopping the floor with neighbour's Harman Kardon.
 
Just been going through the list of really annoying faults on my car this last week. Three amigos have been banished once again, the tailgate handle has been repaired (I need to repair hole in the door which I’ll do later) and I’ve replaced the passenger door lock to rectify the central locking fault.

There’s some interior trim that needs rectifying, but the oh-so-90s McGovern body kit was peeling off in places and took priority today. So I’ve dapped some Tiger Seal to stop it coming off any more and stop it catching the drivers door every time I open it.

Amazing g colour difference between UV damaged bumper and the bits of bumper preserved under the body kit:

That is not a shadow on the bumper you can see: that’s the original colour of the bumper!

wish there was a good cure for the white bumper (other than periodic smothering with linseed oil!)
 
There is. I bought some black plastic dye a few years back and my trim is still black! I'll look out the packet and list it. Don't like recommending things unless they've had a good trial!!
 
Collected a pile of bits for my trusty TD4 refurb. Subframes and bits to be blasted and powder coated and will coat new brake drums too!!

This lot to be cleaned and coated, also new shocks, discs, brake pipes and hoses, cylinders, refurbed diff and complete steam clean and re coating with undershield while the bits are off.
Should be fun!!
 
Today I thought I'd try to repair the headlights, although I'm not actually using the broken ones, but I'm thinking of turning them into, (dare I say it) an LED headlight conversion. However I'll need to make them quick release for MOT purposes. :eek:

I also glued the headlight support bracket back together, ready for the new headlights.

I also did a diagnostic read for the active MIL.
As expected, it flagged the cam sensor, but also a poor cat performance, which I wasn't expecting.

I cleared the codes and cycled the ignition, but they didn't return. I'll keep an eye on them from now on.
 
The cat will probably benefit from a good run to get it properly up to temperature :)
Agreed. The exhaust leak in the flexy section before the cat won't help.
The cam sensor only flags if a start is attempted, while the battery hasn't enough power to turn the engine.
 
Replaced all four seals on IRD, Gearbox and diff. Changed oil on all while there, proper fluids.
All were leaking, ird being the worse, lubricating my new pierburg turbo solenoid. 6h job in total, with elevator. Broke two halfords advanced wrenches, lucky they are around the corner and their warranty is ZE BEST.
Then attempted to replace the front springs, but even though these are original land rover blue/yellow they don't fit, rubbing on the chassis.
Time for a return, no idea what I will do if the springs will actually fail. Prob get rid of this car soon anyway, still a petrol fan even on the K series side.
