What have you done to your Freelander today

Turned on the Air Con! I'm usually to tight to turn the air con on - waste of burning extra fuel - and, if you don't use it it can't break - or at least you don't know its broke!

So it only gets turned on when we have visitors... and yesterday we took visiting whānau out for a drive. I fear it will be getting turned on quite a bit over the next couple of weeks. This is going to negate the fuel consumption increases of not having the VCU hooked up :)
 
I braved the artic conditions to finish off the double din and rear camera install, most useful tool of the day was a wire coat hanger, have to say I'm pretty pleased with the outcome and I can now use the steering wheel controls :)

Not a seal but a rubber damper. It's basically a rubber tube slid over a narrowed section of the guide pin. If oil based lubricant is use, the rubber swells. Once its swollen, removal or replacement is the only cure.

I used 2 mechanical jacks on the sides and a hydraulic jack in the center of the car to distribute the weight and lifted it up. I made a stand with wheels, dropped the engine on top and pulled out of the car. To put the complete engine again I will use a hydraulic lifter.

I took just the engine out the top.

Cool, this car lets you take the engine up or down. I found it easier to remove underneath, and another problem is that I didn´t want to remove the battery because I don´t have the Radio Code.

Last time I took an engine out it was a mates MGTF. He got a long piece of timber and cut notches out to fit the sills, then jacked it up with a trolley jack. We put concrete blocks under either end as it went up until it was high enough for the stands.

The Freelander didn't miss a beat, lovely drive up and back down, blown the cobwebs away aswell.

They wouldn't let you near my house without your passport and a period of quarantine :)
I hope everyone at court was wearing their Sunday Best track suits.
 
I also went on a long drive, 138 miles pretty much non stop

Engine light was on due to "low cat efficiency" but the drive seems to have cured it
 
What have I done to my freelander today well absolutely nothing it is back home while I am driving some rented rot box in NZ but I am going past grumpygel,s house in a couple of weeks and going to leave it there and borrow his freelander so at least I can get into a decent car for a couple of hours,LOL

Sounds good - I'll have a couple of cold ones ready :)

Hopefully we won't be on fire here by then - we could do with some of the rain you're probably having up north!
