Yesterday was cut out, buzz back and prep day of the passenger footwell, the work went well if not a little awkward at times. Then to tack in the YRM new metal. Still have some upper metal to replace next weekend...

It always amazes me how bad pictures look when completing metalwork!

These furry Hobbitons belong to my great buddy and welder. We thought this could be the C21st DIY air conditioning mod'! o_O

ps prep' work, why does it always take so loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong??

Spent the afternoon finishing the mods to my center consul, installing a radio mounting sleeve and some switches.
Then fitted a radio arial and a cb arial and got the wires through into the cab. Installed the majority of wiring for radio and rear work light. Hoping to get it all running tomorrow afternoon, then I can finish the insulation of the bulkhead/tunnel/floor.

Finished the install of the radio this afternoon, plus the wireing to rear worklight and cb radio, all seem to be working fine :):):)
The radio seemed like a good buy, it is a Kenwood with cd player and front usb port. Got it as an Amazon warehouse deal for £50, a return that is checked over before being offered at around 60% off. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was in as new condition, expected at least a few minor scratches on the fascia, but no. A good un.:)

Just being busy today finishing off this part of the project. Fitted an extra earth link from G/box to chassis on top of main earth from batt to G/box. Tidied up a bit of exposed wiring in back rear quarter. Adjusted steering lock stops and the tracking, I last did the tracking about 6 months ago and wasn't going to bother, but I have had the steering wheel off and as I had the front up on jacks to do the lock stops thought I'd just true things up by eye and then pop the steering wheel on.
Something was going on there, looked wrong so got a length of wood and both fronts were well out, got underneath and checked and the tracking was +10mm to the front. When I was doing the stripdown for the chassis repairs I found the track rod was slightly bent so changed for a new one, new TRE's fitted to what I thought was the right measurement to centers. Just goes to show, check and check again.
Anyway, took her for a drive this afternoon to get some fuel. I can actually hear the radio, so the insulation works. It does help that one speaker is about 4 inches ffrom my right lugg. Everything feels nice and responsive. Filters and fluids tomorrow after the rugby.
A few photo's for you. The organised chaos of wireing in my home made center consul.

Nearing completion, radio and CB both work, couple of spare switches just in case, the two on the left are Kenlow overide and rear worklight.

The rear drawer system, basically a box to fit between the wheel arches X 2ft deep, a couple of trays hung on full extension HD runners, each pair rated at 100Kg. The whole lot was out of one 8 x 4 sheet of 18mm ply.

Drawers faced with some checker plate I just happened to have kicking about, (you know I've been storing that for the last 15 years - knew it would come in one day).

The finished article. For the time being I have drilled down through the top into the drawer fronts and secured with dropping in a split pin to stop them opening up when driving, I may end up doing something different eventually. Anyway, get your measurements right and it's an easy DIY project, although I was a chippy in a previous live.

Guys, uber pleased today as all the welding is now finished and have started buzzing back front bulkhead to original primer. Will then give a good couple of light coats of zinc etch primer, followed by enamel primer and then a good few coats of Nato Green Gloss. + this weekend ordered up new supplies of stainless steels fastener and closed cell neoprene seal kits. I'm really looking forward to pressing on with this...the inner and outer wings are painted, engine and timing set/cover wrapped up in nice dry garage, all new suspension + a 100 other parts are filling the dining room. Once bulkhead is finished will then rebuild brake calipers, buzz back, prep and paint the hubs/swivel outers...and give the swivels and hubs a good check and new grease before installing new engine. Only other parts left to do being the buzz back, prep' and repaint of the engine/bay ancillaries. Will post a few more pics next weekend.

PS dropped off the front bumper at A&C shot blasting in Newbury during the week for blasting and new satin black enamel. There, to interesting surprise, was waiting a Lady chassis + suspension and other parts waiting for the same treatment. Did these belong to anyone on LZ? If so, you're in safe hands with the guys at A&C, have used them for 20+years and they always give good results.
